Nutrition & Dietetics
How to access the Nutrition and Dietetics Team
Nutrition and Dietetic services works collaboratively across the city including departments at the Royal Liverpool University, Broadgreen hospitals, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, the specialist Women’s Hospital and Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust.
You can access the dietetic service by referral from any of the team based within the GP service or a consultant from a hospital. You can also attend one of our network of clinic venues across the city or if housebound a home visit can be arranged.
You can join a group education and support programme or have one to one support, receiving written reference material for additional information or access the Community Food Workers for practical cooking skills to help put information into practice with cost in mind, and join a supermarket tour to understand labelling claims and see what's available locally that is healthy.
There are currently four Dietetic Assistants working as part of the Community Nutrition Support team. Each Dietetic Assistant has a caseload of Care Homes in their allocated GP consortium. They support the Dietitians by completing assessments and carrying out reviews of patients in their consortia. A weekly handover takes place with a Dietitian where all service users that have been reviewed are discussed.
