Intravenous (IV) Therapy Team
What We Do
The Intravenous (IV) Therapy service provides a wide range of intravenous therapies across Liverpool to patients’ in their own homes or in clinics.
- Blood and Platelet transfusions
- Intravenous iron for Chronic Kidney Disease
- GP Cellulitis pathway
- Epidural analgesia
- IV Bisphosphonates for Hypercalcaemia of Malignancy
- Intravenous antibiotic for a wide range of infections including Osteomyelitis, Bronchiectasis, MRSA and wound infection, lung, liver and spinal abscesses and cellulitis. Please note this list is not exhaustive.
The aim of the team is to prevent hospital admissions and also facilitate early hospital discharge.
We are a city wide service that operates between 8.00am and 8pm 7 days a week in Liverpool.

Referrals are accepted from Primary, Secondary, Tertiary Care, Hospices. Forms can be found under the 'Referrals' tab.
The IV Therapy Team accepts referrals from GP's or from the Hospital.
